The Roadmap

20th May 2019, Rīga

Dear attendees and dear readers! Let us give you an update about the future actions that we as the organisers are going to do in the remaining weeks before the conference.

In this issue:

1. He started it all

Larry Wall double confirmed his participation at the conference, and his trip is fully arranged now.

2. Talks

We are getting more and more interesting talks submitted. For example:

During this week, we will make another round of submission reviews and will notify the speakers about the acceptance of their talks. The final deadline for talk acceptance is 20th June.

A draft schedule is to appear very soon.

3. Classes

Before the conference, we are planning four teaching classes on both Perl 5 and Perl 6, and even more, about programming embedded devices. It is important that you join before the end of May. We cannot guarantee a seat if you are late.

Let us know if you would like a Python course.

4. The hotel

Last week, the last hotel room from our exclusive quota has gone. This year, the conference is special in a non-standard aspect—the number of people staying in the same place. During the main days, 94 people are staying at Radisson Blu Daugava.

At the moment, we are working on getting more rooms for our attendees at a good price. We will let you know when we have more news on this.

5. Pre-parties

At the end of Day −1 (6th August), at 18:30, we are planning a pre-conference meeting, which will be held at the same hotel too. We are considering two locations: a smaller one with a great view over the Old Riga, and a much bigger one located in the inner yard of the hotel.

As we know many people arrive even earlier, we think it would be a plus to organise a pre-pre meeting on Day −2.

In the following weeks, you will get an invitation to the party and a request to say yes or no to allow us make good planning.

6. Tickets

The late-bird prices are over, and the ticket prices will continue growing, so make sure you get it at a good price.

As of today, we sold about 60% of the venue capacity. Be quick to get your seat at the conference.

Once again, we are ready to thank our gold sponsor cPanel!

You still have a great opportunity to join the list of companies loving Perl. Among the rest, you can sponsor one of the few things:

— Coffee breaks (there are two full coffee breaks every day)

— Sponsor the video recording team

— Sponsor lunches for the speakers
