Three months to go

Next newsletter: 20th May. The Roadmap: our newsletter containing updates about the talks, master classes, some attendee statistics and some preliminary information about pre-conference meetings.

6th May 2019, Rīga

It is only three months left before the European Perl Conference 2019 in Rīga! Welcome to our May update of the conference preparation. We have a lot of things to tell you about!

In this issue:

1. Talks

The deadline for talk submissions — 15th June — is also approaching. If you want to submit the talk, make sure you match the term.

So far, we have about 80% of available time slots filled with a lot of interesting talks on both Perl 5 and Perl 6, as well as a number of other topics closely related to Perl and programming in general.

Let us feature a few recently submitted talks:

Explore the whole list of submitted or accepted talks, or pay special attention to the talks about Perl 5 or Perl 6.

2. Entertainment around PerlCon

We added a new item to our entertainment program: the River Cruise. It will happen at the end of the third day of the conference. The program includes three hours along Daugava on the main touristic boat of Riga, Vecrīga (Latvian: “Old Riga”). The boat will wait for us at the entrance of the hotel, and we will return to the same place. Notice that this item is not included in either conference ticket, so get your ticket separately. The ticket also includes two drinks on board. Alternatively, this is a good opportunity for your company to sponsor the event!

We visited the boat right before the start of navigation. It passed all the necessary checks and it looks wonderful. You can see new pictures on our Instagram account.

We also checked the venue of our Attendees dinner, the Lido entertainment centre. They are waiting for us already. See how it looks inside in a series of recent photos made by us there.

3. Late-bird tickets

It is still possible to get a late-bird ticket to the conference. The sales end on 18th May, be quick!

4. Hotel updates

Our block of hotel rooms will be completely sold very soon. Make sure to book a room at the current prices while it is still possible.

N.B. If you asked to reserve a room before we added them to our e-shop, you should have received a payment link to complete the reservation. If you did not receive it, please contact us asap.

If you are travelling to Riga by car, you can park at the hotel’s parking spot at €10/night.

5. New sponsors

We are proud to announce that cPanel became our Gold Sponsor!

Based in Houston, Texas, cPanel is always on the lookout for talented, capable individuals. Spirited, intelligent, quirky, friendly, adventurous — cPanel employees have been called all of these things, but with our varied skill sets and personalities, we defy labels. We are a tight-knit team that constantly challenges and encourages one another. Best of all, we sincerely believe in the value of the work that we do. And with 20 years under our belts — we’re not looking to slow down anytime soon.

We are also very happy that other companies supported PerlCon too!
