Act (A Conference Toolkit) is a software which has been used by a considerable part of the audience. In the past, it has helped organize several dozens of Perl conferences. However, its reputation is not in a good shape.
Since it is written in Perl 5 and part of the audience knows quite a lot about Perl 5, we might be able to fix it. But instead of just complaining... we need to Act.
A new fork has been established, is being developed, and waiting for people who break it. 5 minutes won't get me into much more detail, though :)
